Diego Armando Maradona was born on October 30, 1960, in Villa Fiorito, a province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was a soccer sensation since he was a young kid, when he was 3 years old he received his first soccer ball as a gift.

Argentine Juniors When he was only 14 years old he signed with the Argentine Juniors. Ten days before his 16th birthday he made his first division debut in 1976. Four months he later he managed to make his first debut with the national team, making him the youngest Argentine to ever do so. But since he was still thought to be too young he was excluded from the 1978 World Cup-winning squad. But later on the next year he led the national under-20 team to a Junior World Cup championship.

Maradona's personal life began to affect his soccer career and eventually caused him to gain weight. He became very grumpy and constantly argued with officials. Later on March 17, 1991 there were traces of cocaine found during a random drug test. He was suspended for 15 months and voluntarily went to a drug treatment program. When his 15 month suspension was over he decided not to go back to Naples and the club had no problem with that, since he had gained weight and was 20 pounds overweight. Weeks later the he was released from his contract with Naples. He then tried to sign a contract with Seville in the Spanish League but it didn't last long because of disagreement between Maradona and the club's management. Maradona returned to Argentina when he got expelled from Seville on June 29, 1993.

In the World Cup of 1994 he failed a Ephedrine drug test. He was only able to play 2 games and only scoring one goal. That World Cup marked the end of his international soccer career. He played for Argentina for 17 year, played 91 games, and scored 34 goals in total.

Diego was sold to Naples after FC Barcelona won the Spanish Cup during 1982. Naples fans Nicknamed him "San Diego" due to the fact that his name became more know after the world cup. Naples was one of the worst in in the Italian League began in 12th place when they first got Diego. Maradona carried the team on his back and took them to win the 187 Italian League Crown. Two years later he again led Naples to winning a European Soccer Union Cup competition. On 1990 Naples won the Italian League Crown for the second time. Naples did something historic which was the fact that they earned their 1st two titles since it was founded in 1926.

One year later he returned to Boca Juniors, having the opportunity to play with them for 2 years.
On the eve of 1997, on his birthday, he made his official retirement from soccer.
